5 Ways to Get More Followers on Tumblr

Tumblr is a very popular website for anyone who wants to create a free blog that is low pressure. I use Tumblr for quite a few of my blogs including Love90s101 and LoveBorn2dance101.
I’ll admit that when I got started, it was pretty difficult for me to gain followers and learn how to use it. I thought I would get followers instantly by the next week but nothing I did was working. I kept asking myself, “Why isn’t anyone liking my posts?”
Now that I’ve had my blog on Tumblr for about 6 months, I have more than 500 followers. I figured out how to get people to find and like my blog. The more experience I had with it, the easier it was for me to know what works. I want to share these tips I’ve learned along the way to help you get more followers on your Tumblog too!
1. Tag your posts.
Before you press that publish button, be sure to tag your post. Tags make it easier for readers to find posts about a specific topic on your blog. I have a music blog where I share my personal reviews on music and whenever I share music, the tags I usually include are the name of the artist, music genre and the name of the album.
Tags help because they are a way for other people to find what they’re looking for. So if you tag something “Kanye West” is someone does a search of Kanye West, your post might show up in their results.
2. Always Be Respectful To Your Followers
Treat others as you would like to be treated! Why wouldn’t you be nice to the people who take the time out of their day to read your blog? Being respectful to your followers gives them a look at who you are as the owner of the blog. If one of your followers asks you a question, try to be respectful when you answer.
3. Use GIFs
Who doesn’t love gifs? GIFs are moving picture and I think every article I write about on my blog includes one. A GIF can take place of words. If you’re mad, use a GIF. If you’re happy, use a GIF. If it’s ridiculous, use a GIF. I think you get my point- they’re the best! Once you join Tumblr you will see plenty of them everywhere and they’re always a great way to get followers because people will reblog a good GIF post. Everyone on Tumblr loves GIFs.
4. Comment on Other Tumblr Posts
When you comment on other another person’s post, it puts your blog out there for other people to see. For example, I like to read people’s comments on posts. If I like what I read, I’ll click on the link that takes me to the commenter’s page. If I like what I see, I usually follow that person’s blog. You would be surprised how many followers you can get this way.
5. Have An Interesting Blog Title (Ex: Flavorinthehouse)
You don’t want to have a boring blog site title like, Justinbieberfan.tumblr.com. You should make it something more interesting, like Belieber4Life.tumblr.com! This is important since it is the first thing the reader sees so it helps to catch their attention. Your blog title should be interesting so that people want to see your page after they’ve read it.
If you follow these steps you will be surprised at the amount of new followers on your page!
